Humble, Texas – October 25, 2011 – Humble, Texas – October 25, 2011 – Thanks to a sponsorship announced today by Baskins, the Official Western Store of Texas, 20 of the state’s top young cowboys and cowgirls will soon gain support in pursuing their academic and rodeo dreams.

The first “Baskins Rodeo Team” will be named this spring in partnership with the Regional Divisions of Texas High School Rodeo Association. Twenty high school seniors will be selected to the team on the basis of outstanding performance in region rodeo competition (THSRA junior-year point standings). The selection of the Baskins Rodeo Team, will be determined by the participating regions of THSRA based on points accumulated during their junior year.

Once named, members of the Baskins Rodeo Team will be outfitted free of charge with the latest popular western wear that Baskins customers have come to enjoy over the years. Baskins offers more than 200 top-selling western brands, including thousands of styles for the entire family.

At each of the regional finals - provided the athlete remains in good standing - Baskins will award each with $250 scholarship check. In addition, one student athlete will be selected to win $1,000 scholarship at the state finals. This award will be based on their rodeo performance, academic achievement and on a required essay.

The Texas High School Rodeo Association is a 501-C non-profit organization that is the largest, most prestigious state high school rodeo association in the nation.
